Accessibility Policy & Compliance

CMC’s digital accessibility commitments are grounded in institutional policy and federal law.

The Standard, in Brief

CMC’s required standard is WCAG 2.1 AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Level AA. WCAG 2.2 AA is preferred for all new procurement.

WCAG is built on four principles. Content that meets the standard is:

1

Perceivable

Alt text for images, captions for video, color contrast ratios — information must be presentable to all users in ways they can perceive.

2

Operable

Full keyboard navigation, no seizure-inducing content, time limits — users must be able to operate the interface.

3

Understandable

Readable and predictable content with clear error identification — information and operation of the interface must be understandable.

4

Robust

Valid HTML, proper ARIA attributes, works with current and future assistive technologies — content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably.
