About ITS

Organizational Structure

The Two-Wing Model — how CMC ITS is organized to serve students, faculty, and staff.

Structure

Organization Chart

ITS is organized into four functional areas reporting to the Chief Information Officer.

Two-Wing Model

How ITS Is Organized

ITS operates on a Two-Wing Model: Service Operations, focused on daily technology support, and Solutions, focused on strategic innovation and platform excellence.

The Two-Wing Model

CMC ITS is structured around two primary service wings that work in parallel — one focused on everyday reliability (Service Operations) and one focused on forward-looking strategy (Solutions). Both wings report to the CIO and are supported by shared Infrastructure and Administration functions. This model ensures ITS delivers both excellent day-to-day support and long-term innovation aligned with CMC's academic mission.

Service Operations

Everyday Technology Support

Service Operations is the front-line of ITS — the team students, faculty, and staff interact with most. It is responsible for delivering responsive, high-quality technology support across all CMC constituencies.

  • Help Desk — walk-in and remote support, ticketing, triage
  • Hardware Services — device provisioning, repair, laptop fleet management
  • Student Tech Services (STS) — student-specific tech resources and peer support
  • Faculty Support — academic technology consultation and faculty-specific support
  • Staff Support — staff-specific technology resources and operational support
  • Workstation Engineering — endpoint engineering and workstation lifecycle management
  • AV & Classroom Technology — event AV support and smart classroom maintenance

Solutions

Strategic Innovation & Platforms

Solutions partners with academic departments and administrative offices to deliver technology consulting, SaaS & Applications management, Administration support, and Integration capabilities.

  • IT Consulting — strategic technology advice and project partnership
  • SaaS & Applications — managing enterprise SaaS platforms and applications
  • Administration — system administration and user lifecycle management
  • Integration — data pipelines, API integrations, and cross-system workflows

Infrastructure

Core Systems & Security

  • Networking — campus Wi-Fi, wired infrastructure, EduRoam
  • Servers & Storage — on-premises and cloud systems, Pure Storage, AWS
  • Security Operations — threat monitoring, incident response, compliance

IT Administration

  • Budget & Finance — ITS budget planning, forecasting, and reporting
  • Procurement — vendor contracts, hardware purchasing, software licensing
  • Compliance — data protection, regulatory adherence, and policy compliance
