Overview
Slack is the primary messaging and collaboration platform for the CMC community, operating under an Enterprise Grid agreement with Salesforce/Slack at cmc.enterprise.slack.com. Enterprise Grid gives CMC three distinct, managed workspaces under a single umbrella: CMC Work for staff and faculty, CMC Campus for students, faculty, and staff, and CMC Network (beta) for external collaboration with alumni and community stakeholders. Every CMC community member receives a Slack account at no additional cost, authenticated through CMC SSO with Duo MFA — the workspaces you're eligible for appear automatically when you sign in, with no separate workspace to request. Students do not see CMC Work.
Unlike personal or small-team Slack, Enterprise Grid provides centralized administration, cross-workspace search, consolidated billing, and enhanced security controls — ensuring that institutional data stays within CMC's managed environment.

CMC Work
For Staff & Faculty only — students never see this workspace. Departmental coordination, administrative workflows, institutional announcements, and cross-departmental collaboration. Vendors and academic partners can join as guests.
CMC Campus
For Students, Faculty & Staff. Coursework, student orgs, campus events, residential life coordination, and campus-wide collaboration.
CMC Network Beta
For Students, Faculty & Staff, plus alumni and community stakeholders. External collaboration — alumni mentorship and community partnerships.
Getting Started
Go to cmc.enterprise.slack.com
Visit cmc.enterprise.slack.com in your browser, or open the Slack desktop/mobile app and enter that address as your workspace.
Sign In with CMC SSO
You'll be redirected to CMC's single sign-on portal automatically — sign in with your CMC credentials.
Complete Duo MFA
Approve the Duo push notification on your registered device. MFA is required for all Slack sign-ins.
Your Workspaces Appear Automatically
There's nothing to select — the workspaces you're eligible for (CMC Work, CMC Campus, and/or CMC Network) show up based on your role. Switch between them using the workspace switcher on the left sidebar. Vendors, academic partners, alumni, and other external collaborators without CMC SSO are added by invitation, approved by ITS Slack administration.
