Get Maple
Maple is already installed on CMC lab and classroom computers — you can sit down and use it today. For an office or personal computer, ITS provides the installer and license.
Request Maple from the Help Desk ↗Personal computers: contact Mike Malsed. Office computers: the Help Desk, (909) 607-0911.
Overview
Maple is Maplesoft's mathematical analysis package — symbolic algebra, calculus, equation solving, and technical documents that mix live mathematics with text. It sits alongside Mathematica and MATLAB in CMC's mathematical computing stack; which one you use is usually decided by your course or your department.
Maple is installed automatically on lab and classroom machines. Office and personal installations are handled by ITS on request, which is how the license stays inside the terms CMC has agreed.
Getting Maple
Try a lab computer first
Maple is pre-installed in the computer labs and on classroom machines. If your work is occasional, this is the fastest route — nothing to install, nothing to license.
For an office computer
Submit a Help Desk ticket at freshservice.cmc.edu, email help@cmc.edu, or call (909) 607-0911. Tell us the machine and whether the software is for teaching, research, or administrative work.
For a personal computer
Contact Mike Malsed, who will confirm your eligibility and provide the installer and license details for your own machine.
Install and activate
Run the installer and enter the license information ITS provides. If activation fails, do not buy a personal Maple license — come back to us and we will sort it out.
Who It Is For
Mathematics students and faculty whose courses or research are built around Maple worksheets.
Anyone comparing tools — if a course does not specify, Mathematica and MATLAB are also licensed, and the labs have all three so you can try before installing.
