Overview
Microsoft Copilot is an AI assistant integrated into CMC's Microsoft 365 ecosystem. It brings AI capabilities directly into the apps you already use every day — without switching context.
Consortium Pricing Advantage
The Claremont Colleges consortium has secured Copilot at approximately $360/user/year through existing Microsoft licensing frameworks — already embedded in the consortium agreement. Individual campuses can activate Copilot without additional pooled purchasing approvals. The package also includes Copilot Studio for building custom AI workflows.
The Microsoft Enterprise Data Protection Agreement (EDPA) also extends to third-party models like Claude, so you can access Anthropic's Claude within the Copilot interface while maintaining full enterprise-grade data security.
Getting Started
Open Any M365 Application
Launch Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Teams. Look for the Copilot icon (a sparkle/star icon) in the ribbon or sidebar of each application.
Or Use Copilot Web
Navigate to copilot.microsoft.com and sign in with your CMC Microsoft account for a standalone AI chat interface with document upload support.
Select Your Model (Optional)
In the Copilot web interface, you can select Claude as your AI model if available in your tier. Both GPT-4 and Claude operate under the same EDPA protections.
Start with a Clear Prompt
Be specific about what you need — tone, format, length, and purpose. Treat Copilot as a collaborative thinking partner. Always review and edit its output.
