Printing is free for CMC students. Student printers are available in the computer labs and residence halls, and you can print to them from a lab computer or from your own laptop over Wi-Fi. These machines are print only — copying and scanning are not available from student printers.
Printer Locations
Poppa Lab (Poppa Hall)
The primary student printing hub, with multiple printers.
South Lab & Ryal Lab
Printers in South Lab (Stark Hall) and Ryal Lab (Phillips Hall) — secondary student printing locations.
Residence Halls
Printers in student dormitories, available on the same student print queues.
Need something scanned?
Student printers do not scan or copy. See Course Materials & Digitizing or ask at the Help Desk.
How to Print
From Lab Computers
Lab computers are pre-configured with the CMC print queue. Open your document, select Print, and choose your preferred printer from the list.
From Your Personal Device — Student Mobility Printing
Students can print from personal laptops and devices using Mobility Print. You must be connected to the Claremont-WPA or EDUROAM network for this to work. This option is available to students only.
- Connect your device to the Claremont-WPA or EDUROAM Wi-Fi network
- Navigate to studentprint.claremontmckenna.edu and follow the instructions to install the Mobility Print queue on your device
- Open your document and select File → Print
- Choose the student printer you want from the printer list
- Click Print — your job is sent directly to that printer
- PICK UP YOUR PRINTOUT! Your job prints straight away at the printer you chose. Go and collect it — do not leave it sitting in the output tray
Pick up your printout
There is no release station and no hold queue: the moment you hit Print, your pages come out at that printer. Anything you leave behind is a stack of your coursework sitting in a public room, and a tray full of abandoned paper is what jams the machine for the next person. Print it, walk over, take it with you.
Troubleshooting
- No Paper / Paper Jam: Please let an LTA (Lab Technology Assistant) know, or email LTA@cmc.edu or mike.malsed@cmc.edu to let us know, and we will address the issue as soon as possible. DO NOT open up the printer!
- Mobility Print not working: Confirm you are connected to Claremont-WPA or EDUROAM. Re-visit studentprint.claremontmckenna.edu to reinstall the print queue if needed
- Poor print quality: Try a different printer, then report the issue so an LTA (Lab Technology Assistant) can service the toner
- Your printout is missing: Check the output tray of the printer you selected, and check whether someone tidied the stack to one side. Jobs are not held, so reprint if it is genuinely gone
